Company History
Friedrich Friedrich, the Darmstadt Furniture and Freight Forwarding Company, proudly reflects back to 70 years of experience in the Relocation business.
The company merged forces with the brothers Friedrich and Friedrich Friedrich and is managed as a family business in the 3rd generation.
1924 - Establishment of the Company Friedrich Brothers, Darmstadt
In 1924, the brothers Heinrich and Leonhard Friedrich established the furniture transportation business in Darmstadt, and named it “Friedrich Brothers” (Gebrüder Friedrich). During this era, transports were carried out by horse-drawn carriages and via railway cars.
1938 - Establishment of the Company Friedrich Friedrich
A few years later, the youngest brother joined the Friedrich Friedrich furniture and forwarding company. He also established his company, Friedrich Friedrich in Darmstadt. Both businesses, Friedrich Brothers and Friedrich Friedrich, ran their operations separately from one another.
1951 - Issuance of Long-Distance Freight Forwarding Permit
1964 - Issuance of Long-Distance Furniture Forwarding Permit
1966 - Assumption of Management
The Chief Operations Officer, Günter Friedrich, and his wife Christa, assumed the leadership of the Friedrich Friedrich Company.
1978 - Membership in the Deutsche Möbelspedition (DMS)
Friedrich Friedrich joined the Deutsche Möbelspedition GmbH & Co. KG (DMS). The DMS has successfully conducted business operation for over 40 years, with currently 80 partner companies – all TÜV certified – on the market. All partners fulfill identical quality standards.
1983 - Relocation of the Corporate Headquarters
The main corporate offices were relocated from Donnersbergring in Darmstadt, to Wiesenstrasse 5, in Griesheim.
1985 - Construction of the 1st Container Warehouse
Modern innovative container storage has become indispensable in the logistics industry. The containers are stored in our insulated warehouse. Upon request, containers can be loaded and unloaded with a bridge crane onto or from a transporter.
1990 and 1992 - Expansion of the Corporate Headquarters in Griesheim
The location in Wiesenstrasse 5, was expanded onto Wiesenstrasse 4 in Griesheim.
1995 - Acquisition of the Friedrich Brother Company, Darmstadt
Bettina Stößel, born Friedrich, and Ralf Stößel, acquire the Friedrich Brothers Company, thereby putting the Friedrich Brothers Company back into family ownership.
1995 - TÜV Certification for the Company Friedrich Friedrich
1997 - TÜV Certification for the Company Friedrich Brothers
1998 - Acquisition of the WSK Company, maintaining the naming rights W. Winter and A. Broth, therefore completing the expansion into the entire Rhein Main area.
1998 - 60 Year Anniversary of Friedrich Friedrich
1999 - 75 Year Anniversary of Friedrich Brothers
2001 - EMG – European Moving Group
All group members, combined with the DMS, and as members of the European Moving Group, become corporate leaders in the furniture transportation groups in Europe.
2001 - Establishment of the self-storage facility in Griesheim, with 123 container bins
2006 - Corporate merger of the companies Friedrich Brothers and Friedrich Friedrich
The companies, operating under independent management, merge into one corporation.
